looking good

This week was a lot better altogether. If it was working out or just school alone, this probably was one of the least stressful weeks of the semester for me. I changed my workouts yet again. I am tired of doing the same consistent workouts I have always been doing and or the boring running and abs so I changed up my workout yet again. Now I will be lifting three days a week, Monday-Wednesday- Fridays. Monday’s and Friday’s I will be in the weight room and Wednesday’s will be used as a body weight and agility day.

My workouts will be focusing on one major lift from every part of my body. I will start from the bottom and work my way up. On Monday, I did lunges and calves, these work your legs. I did pull downs which target my lats. I did dumbbell shoulder press and the standard barbell bench press obviously for your chest. For my arms, I did tricep extensions. Along with these workouts of the body, I did AB workouts in-between all my sets, this making my workout go faster and when I’m done lifting I don’t feel the need to lack the abs. Wednesday I did a number of agility workouts. They consisted of burpees, froggers, double froggers, squat jumps. I completed these in a circuit of 2 sets of 10 reps of each. Along with them I did some pushups, dips and pull-ups. When Friday came around I got right back into the gym and hit the weights hard. Again I did a full body workout only I changed up the exercises so they wouldn’t become boring and repetitive. I did dumbbell incline bench, rows, squat, bicep curls, 3 way shoulders and abs again. Basically working the same areas just doing it in a different range of motion.

As far as working out. School has gotten better. The previous week I was talking about being stressed for three tests, if I didn’t you had to of noticed because I was literary freaking the fuck out. Over all though so far, I got another test back. 97! On chemistry. It was awesome. Now the only thing I am waiting for is that husky ass 15 page anatomy test. I honestly am nervous to receive this test back. It was probably the hardest test yet I studied so much for it, which must tell you something. But then I got it back on Tuesday. When I received it, I wasn’t pleased but an 84 on that test after having three would be satisfying for me. As far as that goes school this past week was much better. I actually had time to relax and not study my ass off for 3 exams all in the same day. I know weeks like this don’t come often but I am taken time to relax and enjoy it while it last.

On Sunday, October 30, 2011 we played the Ravens in flag football. They were coming into the game 5-3-1. We stood at 4-5. We needed a win to possibly have a chance to move up in the seeding to avoid playing a rough team going into the second round of the playoffs, that’s of course if the team we played first round pulled a huge upset over us. But as of now, we beat all the teams that are below us by huge margins so that shouldn’t be an issue. As Sunday came along, the October snow made me decide I wouldn’t go to the game because of the road conditions and I also had to study for a test. I didn’t see if we were still playing the games because I didn’t care. As far as next weekend, I believe playoffs will start and hopefully I can make those games.

stressing

This past week has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life. Earlier in the week I find out from two of my professors that their tests are going to be pushed back another day. Now instead of having my exams split up between Tuesday and Thursday, I was blessed to have three, yes three fucking exams all on Thursday. This mad me not a very happy camper. The fact that the three tests were spread out over the day made it somewhat better, but still it was a very stressful day.

Let me talk about the beginning of my week by saying, my studying came earlier. With having these three exams, which were anatomy, communications, and chemistry, I needed to start studying in advance because their was absolutely no way I would survive Thursday without busting my ass earlier to secure that I knew all the information to do well on these tests. For the next three nights, Monday through Wednesday, I was studying for everything, between my classes and even at parts during, I was completely in a studying mode, not because I wanted to but because my grades depended upon it.

Communications was my first exam Thursday at 8:00 a.m. This was our second test and I wanted to get a better scored then on my last one. The first test I got an 80. I wasn’t pleased but the lack of my studying and quick cramming before that, gave me my result. This time around I went over board. I created a study guide, nicely typed and all, and studied so much. This time I was prepared for it. During the test, I was speeding through, knowing more then last time. When I handed the test in, I was confident in myself that I just did really well. Later on in the day, I checked online, we have a grading system called angel. This allows our professors to update the grades as work is handed in and tests are completed.  This helps us know how we are doing throughout the semester and were we stand. As I look on angel, I see a 94%. I was so fucking happy because that was only one test down and I still had two more to go.

I had a chem lab now; it was about 10 a.m. at this point. I completed the lab quickly because my next exam was at 1:30 and it was anatomy. For the next three hours, I studied my ass off, but it didn’t really matter. Because when I sat in class and she handed out that monster 15-page test, I was like Eddie Murphy in my head saying, “ Get the fuck outta here.” This is a movie quote from Beverly Hills Cop III. This test was so big and long, I did what I was 100% sure about first and then what I wasn’t confident about after. When I handed that test in, my head was so drained but I knew I had to hang in there for one more test.

It was about 3 p.m. after that test was done. I headed to the library to meet up with some of my friends and studied for chemistry. Only as I sat down, I didn’t care anymore and just wanted this day to be over. I thought I was ready and didn’t need the studying. I just sat, talked and had a good time. I needed this after already two tests in the book and one more to go.

It was time for the test. I was in class, so worried before he handed out my exam. Only to realize once I got it, I turned the pages and looked through and said, “WOW! This is going to be cake. Confident in all my answers and understanding everything completely I kept going through my tests banging out all the questions. This was great because it was my last exam and I needed a breather. When I was completed this, I doubled checked all my work. When I handed that bear in, I knew I at least received a 90 or above. There is no way I could do worse, lets hope.

With all of these exams, working out was in the back of my mind. Although Monday and Tuesday I woke up at 5:30 a.m. and did run. Yes, I know it must have been crazy but I needed some working out this week. Besides those two days and a little bit of abs on Wednesday, I decide to relax and take the rest of the week off. I also decide that I was going to begin a new lifting program again. I always changed my mind, but I need to find a good plan that works and I can stick to.

Another week is in the books. School is halfway through and I am looking forward to it ending. My stress level is up and down and I just need to relax, work and make some money.

Exhausted

What a week. Let me get started by saying, I am fucking beat. Last week my workouts were intense, but at the same time really short due to time. This week I had a lot of studying to do for school. As the middle of the semester is approaching I was constantly studying and getting ready for these big tests since they all come at fucking once. Fucking teachers these days, I hate how they all decide middle of the semester, oh hey, here ya go, enjoy all these exams at once!

So because of these gay teachers, my workouts are being reduced in time and over all workouts. I decided to combine my workouts into super sets. This is basically when you combine two workouts and do one, and once you are completely finished it, you go right to the next without stopping. This is called a super set.

This week because of all these school related problems, I worked out only two days. I did Monday and Thursday this week. Each workout was about 35-40 minutes and I was in and out, no fucking around. I also threw in two other days when I did running. I ran about 1.5 miles each time, along with ab workouts that I continue to do. I worked out every day expect Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday, I continue to play in a flag football league, which was my workout. My role on the team is to play as the rusher. This is a perfect cardio workout in general to play but as the rusher it allows me to do quick sprints throughout the game. It is a good way to have fun and also having a workout. This weekend, we had two games. So the sprints were increased which was good.

I usually don’t get a chance to play offense but because we have been short people, I have the chance now to play both ways. On offense, I play center, or I set up as a receiver. Last week, I was a monster. In our game we won 29-6. More importantly, I had a touchdown catch. But the sickest thing was I played corner for one play because we were short people, and what do you know, I had an interception. So I continued to play corner throughout the game and had two more interceptions. Probably the best game I had ever played. Because of my performance last week, I was given a little time on offense today as well. I had a nice catch and was about a 30 yard catch that I tipped up in the air over the defender and back into my hands. It was a huge catch and a crazy play. Over all this weekend we won and lost a game. First game was by one point and it was 20-19 and the second we won by a touchdown 27-19. Both games were close but always exciting to play.

As this semester continues on, it will be hell. I am going to become more and more tired but its almost over. So I have to suck it up, deal with it and continue my success.

another week down...

This past week for me included some big games in my workouts. Usually I have taken my workouts lite but this week I lifted with tiara’s bother, bob, which I used to always workout with during the summer. On Monday, I started out with a quick full body workout with Michael Borio. He is that sarcastic fuck that’s in my English 50 class. He never curses but he sure can be a smart ass. Besides that, he is not as strong as me, no offense to my man, but I enjoy working out with him.

So on Monday we did a quick full body workout. This workout hit all muscle groups, without fully hurting you and leaving you in complete pain. The workout consisted of squatting, upright rows, pulldowns, flyes, curls, and tricep extensions. This workout is very good because it doesn’t completely suck. My squat is going pretty good with weight. I don’t do that much at the school gym, here at Penn State because it’s a smith machine, and it isn’t that good for your knees because of the range of motion it allows. Everything else I do 3 sets of 8 on and do it at a steady weight so I can just complete the whole workout. After I complete the full workout, I always do abs. I do my famous ab ripper x, well it isn’t mine but I love doing them.

After completing my main workout, I did an intense cardio session with Mike. He told me about these things called, “Mountains.” He told me how to do them and I was like get the fuck out of here! These mountains are when you sprint up and down the base line. You start at doing 1 and then keep building up until you reach your goal, which is called the top of the mountain. When your up, you have to come back down, which you do the sprints back down to 1. It absolutely sucks and makes you feel like shit but it really helps you build stamina and speed.

My next workout this week was with bob. Instead of lifting at Penn State Abington, I lifted with him at Healthy Concepts in Warminster, his cousin owns this gym. I belonged here during the summer before school started. This workout yet again was a full body but it consisted of different workouts. These workouts were deadlift, benching, rows, 3 way shoulders, drips and calves. Yet again, this workout was brutal. Bob always pushes me when I workout with him because he knows my potential and I like that. Its better when you have someone to do that because it makes you stronger and gives you a better mind set when you step foot into the gym.

So far I believe that my workouts are going good. I am trying to space out my workouts and make them a little bit shorter but at the same time do more reps and fewer sets. I want to do more of a cardio workout which I am already basically doing but a little quicker and more cardio I want so I can reduce the last few pounds off that I want so I can completely change my workout again, and bulk up muscle for the winter. This will hopefully get me to where I want to be when the summer hits.

This upcoming weeks workout will be the same. On days off though I am going to try to add more cardio days in-between my workouts. Hope it works out and I can have another big week.

3 days instead of 2

This week was a tough one indeed. Since I changed my workout, I wasn’t lifting weights extremely heavy, I was lifting more for a tone look. Now with my first week back in the gym, I was a little weaker then I planned on being. I got back in the gym on Monday. I arrived at the gym at about 7:50 AM. First, I started off with abs, my favorite workout. NOT. Ab Ripper X sucks completely but my stomach is clearly showing improvements. When I was finish, I got up grasping for air because this knocks the wind out of you. I went to the main weight room at Penn State Abington. Once in there, I took out my phone and looked at the workout I was going to do.

This week, I planned on doing a three day workout. I wanted to only do two days because it hits more body parts and leaving you less sore. But I wanted to get back into lifting heavier again. I did chest and biceps on Monday. For my chest workout, I do regular bench, incline bench, then I do the same thing but use dumbbells instead of the bar bell. After I complete that, I go into cable crossovers. These five chest workouts are my favorite and that’s why I only do them. There is many more that I used to do but I stick to only five because the two days aren’t the greatest. I am pretty sore. After I finish up with chest, I do biceps. I broke it down into only four bicep workouts. I did cable biceps, single arm on the cable, dumbbells and then 21s. These workouts are all used with a machine that has cables on it. This is easier because you only have to pull out the plug and put it in to increase the weight instead of taking weights on and off which can be time consuming.

I took Tuesday off because how my schedule for school is so I lifted again on Wednesday. My routine was the same in the morning. I did abs before I started lifting again. Wednesday my workout was back and triceps. Usually I do legs and biceps on this day, but I was trying to switch my workouts up. For back, I only do three workouts. Each workout hitting the upper, middle/ sides and lower part of my back. These workouts are rows, lat pull downs, and back extensions. After I complete the back workouts, I did triceps. I do the standard dips, tricep pull downs and skull crushers. I keep my workouts short and sweet.

Thursday I didn’t work out as well. I kept this workout, Monday-Wednesday-Friday this week. Next week I will be only doing two days because it’s better for me with my time schedule and all. So on Friday, I did chest and biceps again. I did the same as Monday’s workout, only I cut out about half of the work out. I only did three chest work outs and two biceps. I did this because I didn’t want to be completely sore for Monday when I would do chest again. After I completed lifting, I went into the basketball court and began to run. In the gym I ran mountains. Mountains are when you run from base line to base line. You do one sprint, take a ten second break and then do two sprints back and forth, and so forth. When you reach the top, you go back down to one again.

This week I would say was a success. Next week, hopefully my workout is better. I just try to do my best while I am in the weight room because it’s important to me to be strong, not only looking just feeling confident that I can do things that maybe I never had done before. I still am getting closer to my goal. Until that is reached I will bust my ass to get to where I want to be.
